Juliet Capulet

The following gifts are delivered to their recipients on Christmas morning.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? )

Juliet Capulet
What manner of enchantment dost lie upon City this night? Youth is aged and aged, youth. Shall sun be moon now also, and lark sing at dusk and nightingale bring in the dawn?

Yet 'tis more of heaven's work than days now passed, when Death did prowl our streets with plaguey breath. Children's laughter is well suited for ringing in the blessed season.

How fleet doth fickle blood run bold, and not yet full two month's time from true love's sphere removed.

And yet how canst maidenhood, when promise offered yet waits to be possessed, still itself and say: Blood freeze and Heart beat not.

Shall Juliet now forever cloaked in winter be?

I think 'twould be no hardship to suffer such curse again.

Dearest Saint Nicholas,

If I could'st but beg thine indulgence, for the whim of a girl far from home.

I wish only for these things: good health for my friends, strength and joy for my dear cousin, and a glimpse of my own love's face.

Surely these are but small requests?

Juliet Capulet
Tybalt, I beg thee stop thy fretting, I shall not make this my death bed. Thou art too full of honor and too strong of heart for Death to swing his fell scythe o'er this house.

How now, friends? Dear Zach, I beg thee let me hear thy voice, for I would know thou art recovered well.

'Tis a seeming strange day, I think.

[ooc: Fourth Wall day is a go. Juliet won't remember too much tomorrow, so do as you like.

Also, I will be dropping off to bed in a little while, and will catch hanging tags in the AM.]

Ay me, if head doth pain and skin doth burn, and flesh doth prickle and swell...then Juliet is plagued with pox!

Lady Martha, forgive my absence, for I fear I shall not venture away from home today.

Dearest cousin, I beg thine indulgence. If thou art about, I would have a drink of water.

[ooc: Yep, Juliet has the chicken pox. Which can be hell at her age, believe me, I know. ;)]

I fear all good intents have been for naught, for I do see such sickness about. Find thou a physician, I beg thee all, 'fore little troubles grow and cause thee thy deathbed for to seek.

Dearest cousin, and dear friend Dawn, I shall brew thee tea and sit by thy sides as oft as I might. And pray thy hurts and sickness pass anon.

I would make my words more private than I fear they be. May my plea for aid be heard and pardoned?

Whither art thou, Caspian? Tybalt suffers, and I know should like to see thee. As should I, for I fear this forced independence suits me less than I would wish.

All Hallows revel was delight indeed. Thelma, thou dance'st a dream and I thank thee.

Today begins mine first true week employed. My lady Martha, thou art kindness made immortal.

Dear cousin, if thine hurts still plague thee, I beg of thee to let me attend.

Current Location: working at the clinic

Cousin Tybalt, where dost thou hide thyself? Come forth, for I would have us speak, an it please thee.

How now, good Thelma? I do hope preparations for the coming revel proceed apace. Hast thou a suitable costume chosen?

To speak of dress and masquerade, what thoughts come to all of thee? Shall we have a score of ghouls and ghosts, or sprites and fairies?

Juliet Capulet
Races! Though I wager not, still should I like to see. Do any who art known to me compete?

I am in need of a costume. Perhaps it shall be simplest to dress as at mine father's revel last. Feathers would be an easy thing to find, I think, and there is yet little enough coin for frivolity. I would not ask my cousin for more than he may spare.

It would be pleasing to have some bit of extra to spend. I shall seek employment, though I know not how to begin.

Caspian, thou are of the angels! Thine company yester-noon did gladden me, and as thou did predict, the gardens were as mine eyes have never seen.

I hear tales of celebration, for All Hallows. Shall there be a revel, a masque? These contests also intrigue, but sure and they are not so deathly as mine ears are told?

Concern o'ertakes me, for my cousin. His is not to slave and toil, yet this he does. Are we so reduced? Doth my presence burden him so? I would give aid, but I know not how.

The dreary mist hath lifted, as friend Silk did predict, and from mine window the whole of a city doth stretch before me.

Good Tybalt! I would walk in it, and learn the paths and shape of things. My new home, though home it be for only this brief while, should not a stranger be.

What wondrous imaginings are these, that put a strange path beneath my feet, strange heavens above my head? How now fountain, and carousel, and crowds, and lights?

Nurse? Romeo?

[ooc: Juliet has arrived in the city, near the carousel, and isn't yet aware she can be heard. Tybalt will be eventually rescuing her from homelessness, but the post is open to anyone who would like to respond by voice or happens to be in the vicinity. :D]

[series]: Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet
[character]: Juliet Capulet
[character history / background]: Wiki on Romeo + Juliet; Wiki on Juliet Capulet
[character abilities]: n/a

[character personality]: Juliet is sweet tempered and perhaps a bit naive, quick to emotion and sometimes over-sensitive. She feels a deep loyalty to and love for her kinsmen, but is conflicted by her equally strong love and loyalty to Romeo. She's a romantic, and exists outside of the long-standing violent feud between their two families. She's something of a dreamer, seeming in a way to live in her own world, devotedly religious and a believer in portents. Unlike Romeo, who's immersed in the feud despite himself, Juliet's only connection to it is when the feud is brought to her doorstep by Romeo's murder of Tybalt. Juliet feels and reacts to everything intensely, tending sometimes toward extremes -- a good example of this is her readiness to kill herself when she's backed into a corner by her parents' promise to marry her to Paris, when she's already married to Romeo.

A note on Juliet's age: in Shakespeare's original, Juliet is not quite 14. She's obviously older in the film, although her age is never stated outright, so I'm putting her age at 16 for the purposes of roleplaying (based on some hints made by other characters at her age).

[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: Juliet will come into the City after she's agreed to marry Romeo, but before the actual ceremony -- before the scene where her nurse brings her Romeo's message to meet him at Father Laurence's church.
